234 Bay Street Toronto, Canada
Designed by George and Moorehouse with associate S.H. Maw.
This detailed scale Timothy Richards doorway model provides a fine example of both modern and Art Deco styles. This single doorway model is of the second TSE, built on the original site and completed in 1937. The style of the building is a mix of streamlined modern architecture and Art Deco.
The facade is made of limestone and pink granite with a fantastic frieze on the second-floor level designed by Charles Comfort. The frieze depicts 33 life-size figures each portraying the main Canadian industries. These images are continued on in the stainless steel medallions carved into the front door. The model is made of plaster, and brass with rose-colored glass behind the door.
