Originally published in 1842, this is the Second Edition, one of 700 unnumbered copies printed by D.B. Updike at the Merrymount Press. A very good copy in patterned dark blue cloth covered boards, spine label, 249pp. This is the printer's copy with bookplate.

Whitman's first book, and only novel.
